In case you haven’t really been paying attention to college football this year, and even if you were, you may have missed what’s going on in Bloomington, Indiana. Don’t worry, we got you covered

When you hire a new coach you expect him to turn the program around, it’s kind of why you hire him. In the case of Indiana football, I’m not sure anyone in that athletic department thought that Curt Cignetti could do what he has done so quickly.

Indiana is 9-0, and if you saw our trivia question up there, the Hoosiers are ranked in the top 10 for the first time since 2020. Before that season, IU hadn’t been featured in the top 10 since 1967. So, it’s been a tough go for Indiana fans. The team is better than ever, and with Cignetti at the helm, it doesn’t look like that success will stop any time soon.

Cignetti is a winner, even he doesn’t deny it, he was quoted this past summer during his introductory conference about why he thinks he can turn this program around, “I’m a winner. I win everywhere I go. Google me.” Mic drop.

Cignetti has not only surpassed expectations in his first season, he has crushed them. Before this job, he took James Madison to Division 1 and became a Group of 5 powerhouse. In his 5 years there, he posted a 52-9 record.

Today, Indiana takes on the defending national champions, Michigan, at home at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Indiana. It’s no secret that Michigan has struggled this year in his first season without Jim Harbaugh, but this team is still a wall that Cignetti and the Hoosiers need to climb to sit atop of the Big Ten.

Not only is Michigan one of the premier programs in college football, but they are extremely talented and bring a level of respect and history that is rarely matched in college athletics. If Indiana wants to solidify themselves as a top dog in the conference, they need to handle business against the Wolverines.

Indiana has an exciting offense, it’s high-powered, fast, and plays with elite intensity. The defense plays with that same intensity and a motor that never stops. Not only is this team fun to watch, they’re damn good.

I’m not here suggesting that Michigan can’t pull this win off, I’m saying that if Indiana wants to be taken seriously, they HAVE to win. 3:30 PM kick-off, live on CBS from Bloomington, Indiana. Give it a watch.
