In an NFL landscape with numerous young guns leading their teams at QB, a Thursday Night Football showdown between 41-year old Aaron Rodgers and 40-year old Joe Flacco was exactly what we needed for a Throwback Thursday

Before we get going here, THIS is one of our favorite videos here at SGS HQ! It fits the situation of a great Flacco joke from Ravens fans.

I don’t know what is left to be said about Joe Flacco, he’s been in Cincy for 10 days, had to play 2 games, and just had his WR break an all-time 2 game franchise record!

In this journeyman era of his career, it seems Flacco is always good for a few games where he makes it look like it’s 2014 and he’s playing the Patriots. Yesterday against a solid Pittsburgh defense, he threw for 342 yards and 3 TDs.

This all ended with just a beauty of a 2-minute drill drive down the field to set up an Evan McPherson FG to win the game.

Maybe Joe Burrow is Joe Cool, but Joe Flacco might just be Joe Cooler!

Not only was this a statement game for the ageless Flacco, the Bengals are right back in this division race despite their losing record. 3-4 puts them a game and a half behind PIT now before they face the Jets and the Bears. Without getting too far ahead of ourselves they could be 5-4 before their bye week.

The problem will remain their defense. They were able to trip Rodgers up into throwing 2 INTs last night, but the pass rush was non-existent. If they want greater success they will need to figure something out in that regard. If not they will have to hope Ja’Marr has more stat lines like last night:

16 rec, 161 yards, 1 TD. UNREAL!

Most expected a game in the low 20s, but it was an absolute barn-burner! Bengals Stumpset the Steelers, 33-31!
