What to know: Weâre just a few weeks removed from the NFL Pro Bowl, and now a few days removed from the NBA All-Star game as well as the 4 Nations showdown between USA and Canada, so letâs dive into this a little bit more.
Itâs not breaking news that the fans donât love the state of the current NFL Pro Bowl and NBA All-Star game. Letâs start with the Pro Bowl from a couple of weeks ago. Do you remember how that went down?
Exactly. Neither do I! Didnât watch a second of it until I saw some clips of it on Instagram of the accuracy comp between QBs. Itâs crazy that by far, the biggest league in the country has one of the worst Pro Bowl formats. Itâs a flag football game, and some of the most talked about moments the day after are from the tic-tac-toe kicking competition. I mean, I canât lie, that one was pretty cool, but maybe we can figure out a way to get some more juice leading up to it!
Next up, the NBA All-Star game. It does suck that we never really get the greatest shooters and dunkers facing off against each other in the 3-point and Dunk contests. It seems like itâs become more of a pride thing rather than true contests to see who is the best dunker in the league. Can you imagine if we had Ja, Ant-Man, Zion, Aaron Gordon, and Zach Lavine all under the same roof at the same time?!? The roof would probably blow off the place! Unfortunately, the weekend is far from that. Even in the finals, Sunday night, there was ZERO competitiveness! Yeah, I get it. Injury risk is a real thing, but it brings me to this final pointâŚ
HOCKEY! Man oh man if you watched the match-up between USA and Canada, you saw an absolute spectacle! It was a full-on WAR on the ice that mattered to every single person who participated. Weâre not talking about any average players either, weâre talking about the best players in the league!
Thereâs something about territorial matchups that brings out competitive juices in everybody. A true USA vs The World in basketball, or maybe an NFL game based off of college conferences, those could both do some serious numbers!
Hey, just a thought, weâll see what happens!
