š Putting our Head Coach Hats on for a Minuteā¦

Last night the Bucs had the ball with 1 minute left in regulation against the Chiefs, they were down 7 with no timeouts. The Chiefs had all 3. This brings up a great chance for us all to put our Head Coach hats on! And we want to hear what you would do!
Am I the only one who thinks Chiefs games are easy to predict now? When youāre playing these guys, if you make a big mistake, you lose. And then if you donāt go above and beyond on both sides of the ball, you also lose. So do you have to be perfect? Not necessarily, but you do have to be special. You have to do something special during the course of the game.
Last night, the situation was this. There were 30 seconds left, the Bucs had just called their last timeout, and they were down seven on the one-yard line. The key here for me is that the Chiefs had all three timeouts. We know what the Chiefs can do with basically no time on the clock, so itās tricky.
Call it living rent-free in my head, but as a Bills fan, I find myself thinking about this sometimes. If and when it comes down to it again, when the game is on the line and weāre down one score to KC with just a minute on the clock, what do we do? How do we handle it? How do we be special?
A couple different ways you can go about this. You can run your best play with 30 seconds to go, hopefully score there, and then give the Chiefs the ball back with 27 seconds to go.
If you score here you can either kick the PAT, or go for 2 and take the lead, but if you donāt get that, game over.
A lot of people today will be wondering why the Bucs didnāt go for 2, that would have been ābeing specialā.
Hereās where my head is at, call me crazy! I can picture it in my head. Itās a playoff matchup against the Chiefs, same exact situation, you bleed as much clock as possible. I donāt care if you take a knee, run for zero, or do whatever you have to do, JUST BURN CLOCK! If Iām head coach, there is no chance in hell I am giving the ball back to them with any time on the clock! In the playoffs, you kick the PAT and then go to OT where you know youāll get the ball. Even crazier people than me would just go for 2 right then and there. Win the game on that play! I mean, I freakin love it! And I canāt wait to see it!
When was the last time you saw a team down 7 take a knee with under a minute to go, but I donāt hate it at all. Football people will say, āNo. You score points, and then you play defense. And you live with the results.ā
NO WAY! You canāt do that, right? Itās been 100 last-second victories for these guys these last couple of years, and if you want to beat them, you have to do something a little out there, or else you will lose.
There are honestly so many different ways to go about it. Score as quickly as possible and then play D. Score and then go for 2. Bleed clock and then take it to OT. Something else Iām sure Iām not even thinking of. Itās fascinating to think about.
Anyway, Iām gonna take the Head Coach cap off now and go make the big decisions of my life which are whether my eggs are going to be scrambled or fried today.
Would love to hear what you all think. Use this form and tell us what you would do to beat the Chiefs in that situation. Weāll shout out some of our favorite ones so throw your name in there as well!
