The NBA offseason is weird! It really feels like not too long ago the Thunder won in Game 7 against the Pacers, and now here we are starting a brand new season!

Yesterday the NBA season kicked off in OKC with the Thunder hosting the Houston Rockets.

Honestly I could spend this entire section today talking about how the NBA is back on NBC! It’s going to be a new-look everything this season. Mike Tirico on the call. The scoreboard on the bottom. The halftime crew having Melo and Vince! There will be a lot of things to get used to. But hey, basketball is back!

The Rockets showed exactly why they will be a formidable team in the West all year. After losing Fred VanVleet to injury last playoffs, the Rockets don’t really have a true starting point guard. Yesterday they started Amen Thompson as their PG, who is 6’8. The remaining 4 starters were all 6’11, making them the tallest starting 5 in recent memory!

The Rockets looked good all game, and it wasn’t Durant, but instead SENGUN who was unstoppable. They barraged the Thunder with relentless defense and hustle, but the champs weathered the storm and had their MVP go off in the 4th quarter.

It was an absolute treat that went in to 2OT, and it was the Thunder who came out on top, 125-124! SGA had 35, Chet had 28, and Sengun had 39, 11, and 7 for Houston! Sheesh! We will look back at this come postseason time, when this is a second-round series that goes 7 games!

And then
The New look Warriors vs New look Lakers!

Every season we as NBA fans get catfished unto thinking either Zion lost 100 pounds, or maybe Ben Simmons developed a three point shot. This offseason all of the talk was surrounding Luka and the shape he was in. Some pics came out that made him look like a toothpick!

Well. We all got eyes on him yesterday, and whatever he did, it worked, because he looked unbelievable yesterday. Without LeBron, who is out for the next two weeks, he needed to put on his cape to help the Lakers have a chance. He did this to the degree of 43 points, 13 rebounds, and 9 assists. An absolute sicko.

Reaves, Hachimura, Ayton, and Laravia all contributed, but they couldn’t take care of business against the ageless wonders on Golden State. Steph and Jimmy led the team in scoring with 23 and 31, but it was the others who changed the game. Buddy Hield and Jonathan Kuminga each had 17 points which were absolutely the difference. It was hard to double-team Steph or Jimmy because they could pass to one of these assassins at any point!

Man, still can’t fully believe I’m typing about basketball right now! We are so back! Warriors def. Lakers, 119-109!
