Weāre going to talk every team, one a day, until the season starts. Weāll start at the bottom and work up. Today, weāre going to head to Brooklyn and feature the Nets.
Letās talk about the Brooklyn Nets. This team lost one of their studs, Mikal Bridges. Heās moved on just a couple blocks down to Madison Square Garden with the New York Knicks. He averaged 19 points per game last year. The Nets currently have a roster of a bunch of guys who would be solid role players on a contender. Unfortunately, you need 1 or two superstars to lead the troops into battle and that is what the Nets lack.
Cam Johnson, Dorian Finney-Smith, Nic Claxton, Shake Milton, and Dennis Schroeder have all played meaningful postseason minutes before. They will be the core that the team looks to for a lot.
Cam Thomas was their leading scorer last year at 22 points per game. The guy either seems to score 45 and 6 on a given night, and the word pass doesnāt seem to be in his vocab. The guy can score for sure and will be looked at again to be a leading scorer for the team.
The one guy left to talk about would be Ben Simmons. Heās the X-Factor for sure. What type of Ben are we getting? It seems like itās been a decade since we last saw him on the court. The jokes are going to be easy to make, but if he plays his brand of basketball, he makes everybody around him better and maybe he can get back to what he once was, a 3x all-star!
There are some good names on the Nets for sure, but without a true superstar, the season may be tough.
