In a world of cookie-cutter interview answers, sometimes we get refreshing honestly. We got some up that yesterday. I want to take a second to talk about the team that I’m sure everybody is lining up to write articles about today!

The 0-4 Tennessee Titans.

This team isn’t great. That’s just the way it goes sometimes during the rebuilding process. A rookie QB, not a lot of pieces on both sides of the ball, a second year Head Coach. It all adds up an unfortunately for Tennessee it resulted in a 26-0 shutout loss against their divisional rival Houston Texans yesterday.

This isn’t to dog on the Titans. They don’t need that from our friendly, neighborhood, newsletter over here.

As we continue to look more and more at interviews, it’s easy to go out there after a bad game and just not really answer any questions, and give the same robotic answers that you hear after every loss. Whether it’s because of his youth, or just his personality, what we got from the number one overall pick yesterday was brutally honest.

After being asked about the state of the team, he said this:

“If we keeping it a buck right now, we ass. We’re 0-4. At this point we’ve got nothing to lose, we dropped a quarter of our f*cking games and we’ve yet to do anything, so we got to lock in. Especially myself.”

We just don’t see this type of candor from players. But 23 year old rookies who aren’t use to losing will give you that.

When things aren’t going right, and you’re not performing to a standard you have set for yourself, this is what happens. You say what you are thinking. Sometimes it’s easy to sugarcoat things and just say “yeah, we’ll get em next week.”

Saying something like this however takes guts.

Not sure how it will be received in the locker room, but Cam Ward is honest, and I kind of dig that!

Action. Results. Honesty. Growth.

It’s not easy to be honest, but without that as the first step, what are we even doing here!

I’ll go first. I’ve been meaning to change some things around on our SGS website for almost a week now; and I haven’t. But now being able to tell you all, I’ll do it today. So thanks!

That’s me peeling a layer of the onion!

Happy Onion Peeling Monday!
