When we came into the season, not many were picking these teams to make runs into the playoffs, but we forgot one thing: GRIT!
The MLB postseason is a weird place. Upsets happen here all the time, I mean, it’s baseball, literally anything can happen on any given night. Luckily for the Tigers and Royals, it hasn’t just been their night, it’s been their season.
The two AL Central teams weren’t expected to do all that much this year. Both teams are young, trying to build around their core. Many thought they were both a year or two away, but they forgot to listen.
The Tigers have been the hottest team in baseball for the last six weeks or so. The pitching and the hitting have complemented each other beautifully. They play baseball the right way, hard and fun. They don’t cut corners, they don’t swing for the fences all the time, they just play smart baseball. They aren’t full of big names, instead, it’s a bunch of dudes who just play for each other. Hats off to manager AJ Hinch for getting this team to where they are today.
The Royals are pretty similar in the fact that nobody really thought much of them entering the season. They were coming off a really ugly 2023 campaign and even 70 wins would’ve been a huge step in the right direction. Instead, they rallied. MLB’s future MVP Bobby Witt Jr. decided to be THAT dude. He’s been an electric factory all year long and led the Royals into the playoffs and the ALDS.
A battle between these two in the ALCS would be absolutely ELECTRIC!
