You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen, Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen. But do you recall, the most famous reindeer or all?
Not all reindeer are built the same. Rudolph, the son of Donner, the former lead reindeer on Santa’s sleigh, and his wife who is known professionally as Mrs. Donner, was born into one of the most successful reindeer families on the North Pole. That kind of birthright brings forth a lot of pressure, and Rudolph felt that pressure.
Rudolph was blessed with a special feature, as many of you may know, a red nose. What was a blessing to him, was a feature that others did not enjoy. Rudolph was left out of reindeer games, he was laughed at and called names. His father even tried to cover it up with some black coloring and then a cover to try and hide the nose.
Rudolph just wanted to fly, he wanted to be a reindeer, he just really wanted to be one of the guys. It wasn’t until one foggy Christmas Eve that Rudolph finally got called into the big leagues.
Santa came to him and said, “Rudolph, with your nose so bright, won’t you guide my sleigh tonight”? The moment Rudolph had been waiting for had finally come. Big time players perform in big time moments.
He led the sleigh, saved Christmas, and became a hero not only on the North Pole, but across the world. This goes to show the resilience it takes, the belief in yourself, the patience Rudolph always had inside of him. Rudolph saved Christmas. A true underdog story.
