What to know: In years past, Belgian golfer Thomas Detry has struggled at the top of the leaderboard. His heart would start to race, his palms would get sweaty, and he couldn’t focus on the task at hand. This week, he changed his morning routine heading into the weekend. Detry took time to meditate and take an ice bath, a change he claims calmed his down, “Yesterday morning, I actually felt pretty comfortable and I did the exact same routine, and I actually felt comfortable on the first tee. I really didn’t have any nerves”.

Quick meditation and an ice bath, you say?

Well, whatever it is, it worked. Detry shot a 6-under 65 on Sunday to propel him to his first victory at the Phoenix Open. His most electric moment of the day came at the rowdy stadium's 16th hole, where he nearly aced his tee shot. It was in that moment that you knew nobody was stopping Detry.

Scottie Scheffler, Jordan Spieth, and Daniel Berger all made moves on Detry, but it was to no avail; he would not be denied. This was his first tour victory in 68 PGA Tour starts.

The PGA Tour continues this week at the Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla, California!
